DOMINICAN REPUBLIC FINANCE INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY
The Dominican Republic has emerged as a prime location for financial investment. Specifically, the Dominican North Coast, located on the Atlantic Ocean side, is not in the Caribbean hurricane alley to the South. It is an area that offers large a variety of both large and small investment opportunities. Viewed on a map the Dominican North Coast is a natural stop for North and South commercial and private maritime traffic and there is a fair sized commercial port at Puerto Plata. Added to that is a solid international community. In the eighties and nineties there was a large influx of Europeans, especially German. That community now comprises the backbone of many businesses to include real estate, property management, service and construction. Most recently North Americans have discovered the North Coast is not only a desirable place to visit but also a nice place to live and work. Thus there is a large international community, who own or run businesses and are well versed in local business practices and business opportunities. They can facilitate or provide reliable information to potential investors.
The current growth not only on the North Coast but throughout the country is the result of several factors, the first is governmental stability highlighted by most recently becoming the final signatory to the CAFTA agreement. The government has made a change in law that now requires a Deslinde (survey). Stipulations can be written into the finance contract and is backed by law. Non residents can legally purchase and own property, without any extraneous rules or regulations. There are opportunities here that cash and carry will only take so far, financial investment is required but it is also safe and desirable.
The recent Donald Trump investment on the South Coast and the fact that Wal-Mart, IKEA and ACE Hardware will soon open stores is a harbinger of good investment news. There is no large supermarket, retail outlet, mall, hardware store, public golf course located outside a development, marina large enough for today’s private sailing/motor vessels; all major investment opportunities. Development although present has been uneven, due to a lack of finance. Some existing properties require renovation or replacement and the influx of demand from North America also contributes heavily to sales; the two basic reasons for turnover in the market.
Businesses and people are eager for progress, to innovate, and to build. The North Coast is comparable to Spain of the 60s, Costa Rica of the late 80s & 90s, and perhaps the Balkans since the 1992 war. In short it is on the cusp of a major change because of the demand for goods and services, more modern and wider choice in conveniences, a steady flow of tourists and the potential for many more given facilities to attract them. There is also a solid core of North American and European residents familiar with the area. North Americans and Europeans are truly welcome here. Tied to that is a growing Dominican middle class who are eager to participate with the resident and outside finance investment groups. They are themselves in need of financial assistance local lenders are either unable or unwilling to assist.
The language is Spanish, if you are not fluent then do not worry our staff is bi-lingual. Generally many in the business areas speak English so you can get by if required. People and businesses are open to investment opportunities. Almost the entire coast is either not developed or underdeveloped. This does not take into consideration highly desirable inland properties in the mountains or along the river country. The Dominican North Coast is certainly worth investment consideration, come on down!
